Newport Transport has a new and exciting role within its managerial team at its Corporation Road headquarters. Newport Transport are looking for an exceptional candidate that gives and outstanding contribution to the role, is constantly developing and maintaining their work knowledge, skills and experience and has as developed good relationships with other staff based on mutual respect.

The Assistant Operations Manager will assist with the smooth running of day to day operations ensuring that all resources are used to full capacity and a high level of service is maintained through excellent punctuality and reliability of the service. They will also be responsible for conducting full investigations on blameworthy accidents. They will be able to demonstrate they can work under pressure while maintaining their composure.
Previous Experience in an operational role within the transport sector is desirable.

Key Responsibilities

Ensure day to day operations are run effectively and efficiently.
Ensures full coverage of duties by appropriate staff is maintained in accordance with legislation such as Drivers Hours, Working Time Directives and Local Agreements.
Road Traffic Act, Traffic Commissioner requirements are adhered to at all times.
Proactive in terms of reporting Health and Safety Risks and Hazards.
Reports are completed and correctly distributed to the relevant organisations and company personnel.
Competently and consistently completes all operation control documentation fully and accurately.
Ensures Company compliance of all transport policies, legislation and procedures to do with tachograph, Working time Directive and ‘O licence’ regulations.
Reduce accidents by educating/training drivers on safe driving, cost of third-party claims and personal injury claims, loss of revenue, engineering time constraints.
Full investigation on blameworthy accidents – Driver interview, CCTV, quality of accident report form, printout from on bus tracking systems, site assessment (if required).
Full investigation pack to be handed to Operations Manager, Accounts Dept and Finance Director within set timescale.
Assist Operations Manager in efficiently managing a team of drivers and Supervisors.
Assist Operations Manager in improving standards of employee attendance, conduct and performance with driving staff
The Operations Manager updated on any operational problems in a timely basis.
